At the Y, we believe the ability to swim is a critical life skill that every individual should have the opportunity to learn. When you learn to swim, you gain confidence, acquire safety skills and experience water activities you can enjoy for a lifetime.
The Y introduced the country to group swim lessons over 110 years ago in 1909. Now, as one of the largest community-based organizations in the country, we teach more than a million children invaluable water safety and swimming skills each year. Every year our YMCA teaches over 1,200 children to swim in the Easley, Pickens & Powdersville communities.

Private Swim Lessons
It’s never too late to learn how to swim!
Whether you have a fear of the water, or you started to learn as a child and want to master skills like advanced strokes and turns, private swim lessons are a fun and low-key way to develop your skills, with you setting the pace. Whatever your skill level, we are here to help you swim confidently in a supportive environment. Each session is 30 minutes and is scheduled based on instructor and participant availability.
Semi-Private Group Lessons
With our semi-private lessons, you can bring a friend or family member along to share the experience and motivate each other to excel in the water. Semi-private lessons are available for all skill levels and are scheduled based on participant and instructor availability. Our instructors will work closely with you to develop a personalized lesson plan, focusing on areas you want to improve. Please contact your branch’s Aquatics Director for more information.
