Always moving forward, the Y pivots to serve the current needs of the community.
“Over the past few months, while our world has navigated the COVID-19 crisis, the YMCA of Easley, Pickens & Powdersville has inspired me again with its commitment to community,” said Mike Dosher, President of Dosher Physical Therapy.
“Y staff and volunteers created a Senior Buddy Program and delivered more than 100 care packages to community seniors. Additionally, staff took on seven delivery routes for our local Meals on Wheels and delivered weekend food to students at a local elementary school. These are only a few of the non-traditional services the Y has provided the community.”
During the month of June, Dosher Physical Therapy will match any new donations made to the Y up to $5,000.

Parents, many of whom were furloughed, saw reductions in work hours and took on new responsibilities in helping children with e-learning, are seeking safe, affordable childcare while returning to work. This week marked the beginning of Summer Camp for the children of our community.
For the 2020 Summer Camp, we are implementing lower staff:child ratios, increased programmatic space and new sanitation requirements. “Ensuring the safety of our children, families and staff is always our top priority,” said Alida Gardiner, VP of Operations.
Operational changes have driven program costs higher. However, the Y strives to turn no one away due to their inability to pay program fees, and we are working hard to provide a record amount of Summer Camp scholarships. For more information, read the Y’s Summer 2020 Case for Support.
The YMCA of Easley, Pickens & Powdersville has provided Summer Camp to the community for more than 40 years. As always, the Y is Here for Good and continues to take on the community’s biggest challenges.
